TITLE:                             Product Sales Manager

REPORTS TO:                 Program Services Director

CLASSIFICATION:           Exempt, Full-Time

COMPENSATION:            Negotiable (full benefit package available)

LOCATION:                     Chesapeake, VA

SUMMARY            

Manage all aspects of the Council-wide product sales program (includes annual cookie, magazine, nut and candy sales).  Ensure product sale programs are consistent with GSUSA guidelines, incorporate designated leadership outcomes and meet strategic business objectives.  Provide oversight and coordinate all phases of the product sales program.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage staff and volunteers to ensure effective development, communication and integration of the tools, resources and systems required to deliver the Girl Scout product sales program.

  • Create, maintain, and continually monitor and evaluate sales status reports and develop creative sales techniques as needed to meet product sales goals.

  • Ensure adherence to safety and risk management guidelines and support crisis management related to product sales.

  • Create and manage associated budgets.  Ensure vendor payments are made in a timely manner to qualify for associated discounts.

  • Oversee the audit process for product sales and ensure that all delinquent accounts are settled.

  • Hire, train and supervise assigned staff in support of product sales.

  • Recruit, train and provide technical advice and assistance to the Product Sales Advisory Group.  Work with volunteers to ensure training, events, booth sale opportunities and communication during the sale.

  • Develop and implement a process to assure that product sales materials are accurately designed, processed and distributed in a timely manner.

  • Secure facilities and schedule product sales training at multiple locations within Council jurisdiction.

  • Responsible for the timely ordering of product sale materials and the efficient delivery to troops, to include promotional materials, product and recognitions.

  • Manage all record keeping and department processes and procedures.

  • Responsible for inventory management, controls and reporting.

  • Maintain accurate and timely reports related to product sales.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure collection of troop and service unit cookie accounts.

  • Arrange training and negotiation meetings with product sale vendors.

  • Provide for recognition of product sale volunteers and coordinate annual product sale recognition awards.

  • Actively support and promote the Council’s commitment to excellent customer service, membership growth, community visibility, fundraising, diversity and safety.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree with two years’ experience in sales/supply chain management, marketing, or customer service; or equivalent combinations of education and experience.

  • Supervisory experience including strong leadership skills to motivate and retain a high performing staff.

  • Knowledge and experience in managing volunteers.

  • Knowledge of Girl Scout Leadership Experience preferred.

  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite.  Ability to learn new software as required.

  • Demonstrate experience in the development and administration of budgets, sales forecasting, and scheduling expenditures.

  • Ability to implement transportation/distribution strategies.

  • Ability to analyze information, formulate work plans, articulate goals and produce required statistical reports.

  • Demonstrate reasoning and negotiation skills to identify and resolve conflict.

  • Ability to project a high level of professionalism while networking in the public arena.   Ability to speak passionately and with conviction about the organizational mission and its importance to the public.

  • Strong grammar, proofreading and editing skills.

  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with volunteers, peers and supervisor. 

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work while managing multiple deadlines.

  • Demonstrate a commitment and ability to interact with diverse populations.

  • Ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds intermittently.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evening and weekends.  Ability to travel as job requires.

  • Must have personal transportation and ability to drive, possess a valid driver’s license, maintain personal auto insurance and meet the Council insurance company’s requirement for coverage. 

  • Subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement and become a registered member of GSUSA.

  • Successfully pass background investigation.
